My Summer Reading List
Reading is one of my very favourite things to do. Maybe my
nosey tendency is whetted at the chance to delve into the in’s and out’s of
someone else’s life. Maybe it’s the chance to really press pause on reality and
pretend the pile of ironing/washing/other chores don’t exist. Or maybe it’s the
chance to explore countries I’ve not visited before through the author’s descriptions.
Either way reading is my thing and my “to be read” list grows almost daily.
So with my reading mojo well and truly back in situ I
thought I’d share the books that are on my “to-be-read” list that I am hoping I
can read this summer.
1.
The Guilty Feminist by Deborah Frances-White
2.
Strong Woman; The Truth About Getting to the Top
by Karren Brady
3.
Daughter by Shemilt (I started this at 3:30am
after Sienna woke, quite uncharacteristically for her, during the night and
after she was back settled I couldn’t get back to sleep)
4.
This is Going to Hurt by Adam Kay (upon hearing
that that I wanted to read this book a friend advised me to wait until after I
had given birth before picking it up. Sound advice because I heard from another
friend recently that there’s a part about a woman giving birth that involved
cracked ribs!....the mother’s not the baby’s!!!)
5.
The Burning House by Neil Spring
6.
Something in the Water by Catherine Steadman
7.
The Last Time I Lied by Riley Sager
Phew – not sure how long I’m expecting summer to last but
that’s a lot of reading to get on with!
Oddly enough I’ve read more books since Sienna was born than
I did while I was pregnant. The last book I read, Alan Sugar’s autobiography, I
managed to finish in just over three days! Not bad going for a book in excess
of 600 pages!
Have you read anything decent lately that I should add to my
(ever-growing) TBR list? Or are there any books that are just not worth my
time? Let me know in the comments 😊
